Hi, I have 40′ leylands that are INFESTED!!! Please help me decide what to purchase to eliminate them. I need to save these trees before they are too far gone from these pests.
I would like to go with the Bifen IT; likely the 96 oz. I’m thinking I’ll get the gallon of “sticky”.
I would like advice on which sprayer to purchase. These trees are huge and I need to reach up high as well as down low. I have a great ladder. I have hose access near the trees as well.
I’m on a budget and so would like a sprayer that will get the job done efficiently while not costing me a fortune.
I read the article on bagworms. I’m thinking I’ll treat with the bifen……….when to repeat? one month? I’m thinking it will take three treatments.
How will I know they are gone? Is it okay to treat this late and still get the job done?
Should I plan to treat annually every spring?
I’m also trying to figure what shipping costs will be to Centreville, MD 21617 if you could tell me that as well.
Thank you so much for your time and efforts.
Greatly appreciate your help!
Treating your 4o foot tall leylands now would be a wise decision even though the summer is half over. I suggest a treatment now, one again in September and then maybe one more in early October will really help reduce their numbers on your trees. Next spring, if you treat by April, no later then May, you should be able to stop the bagworms from re infesting all season. As explained in our BAGWORM CONTROL ARTICLE, this pest can be persistent and because of this inherent nature, 2-3 applications are almost always needed to get complete control of most problem infestations.
I do like your choices; the BIFEN IT would be ideal. I also suggest the SPREADER STICKER to insure good “plant” coverage. As for a sprayer, you should be able to get the job done with one of our HOSE END SPRAYERS. I think the 6 GALLON HOSE END would be Ok as would the 20 GALLON HOSE END.
If you submit your order on line you’ll be able to see what freight will be to your destination. I’ve put direct “links” above to the items you want to get so the process would be easy from this page to do. I don’t think it will be too costly for shipping either; for the three items it should be in the $15.00 range. And if you submit your order on line using our shopping cart, you do get the 5% online ordering discount. Alternatively, you can give the office a call on our 1.800.877.7290 toll free and speak with one of our technical reps who will be able to take all the required information and answer any questions you might still have. Good luck and save those trees!!
