Hello,
I have seen situations like this in the past and many times the guilty “insect” ends up affecting the sale of the home in a ver “negative” way if left untreated. I’ve seen it with roaches, termites, powderpost beetles, ladybugs, wasps, bees and box elder bugs. Additionally, if you don’t treat them now, the problem will only get worse and this time next year the house owners will surely be pretty mad if the box elders started appearing inside. I’m sure they would be looking to get “reimbursed” for any box elder bug treatment they had to do or pay someone to do. Besides, I would say handling the problem now would be the right thing to anyway.
The good news is at this time the treatment would be an easy task to do. Some CYPERMETHRIN and SPREADER STICKER applied in a good PUMP SPRAYER will take them out once and for all. If you don’t treat them before they leave this spring, the odds are high they’ll find their way back inside at some point as explained in our BOX ELDER BUG CONTROL ARTICLE.
