After applying to the lawn do i water it in just enough to wet or soak as I would regular watering?? How long before applying another dose?? When will I see results? One month or two to three months?? How often is this treatment needed during the summer months? Once the application is done do I hold off on water for a couple days????
DELTA GUARD GRANULES, like many granules, need to be watered in to be activated. This can be done by either waiting for rain or by running your water sprinkler. As a general rule there isn’t an exact amount of water needed; just let normal rain or watering patterns do the job. This will suffice.
Application frequency will vary depending on target pests and level of infestation. If you have a lot of pest related problems, we say to apply them monthly. If combined with other pest control products, you should be able to cut back on this rate to once a quarter when the current infestation is deemed to be under control.
Results should be immediate for those insects which come in contact with your treatment immediately. Since granules also affect soil dwellers, these pests may die where you can’t see them so in the end, you won’t even know anything happened to them and for these pests, you won’t “see” any results.
Annual treatment schedules should again depend on the level of insect activity (more insects more treatments needed) and will tend to be more during the spring, summer and fall months. I live on the Chattahoochee river where it’s both green, full of bugs and quite moist. I also fog around my house from April through to October. These past two years I’ve used some lawn granules because we’ve been so dry I have hardly even had to fog. During these two years I only did one application and found it carried me the whole year because we just didn’t get rain. This year has been different. I’ve already done two applications since we’ve had so much rain. I expect I’ll do at least one more if not two before the season is up. The point is there is nothing etched in stone here; you have to be flexible depending on weather patterns and insect activity.
Once the application is done, watering is what you need to do to get the granuels activated so whether you water right away or wait just depends on how fast you want them to be activated. During my drought years, I didn’t want to water following the treatment since there was no need to activate the granules. And now, though I have some slight insect activity, I don’t have to water because we’re getting so much rain. But if I knew it was to be dry for a week and I had a bad roach or ant problem around my house, I would water following an appliccation to get them activated.
