Recently we purchased a new home in Ocala, Florida. We live in Michigan but plan on spending the winter in Florida.
Our house is in a gated community but our back yard abuts a large pasture with cows. Our property manager reports that grasshoppers are eating away at the weather stripping on our front door.
What product would you recommend to get rid of this grasshopper problem?
Thank you.
When grasshoppers get going during the summer, they will many times eat everything in their path. Reports of them chewing on inanimate objects abound and you never know what might be targeted for food. As described in our GRASSHOPPER CONTROL ARTICLE, it’s not really possible to stop the carnage and destruction since there are usually countless thousands involved. But you can slow them down and deter the damage with the right chemical applied in these key areas.
We suggest you spray the door fame and stripping with some BIFEN CONCENTRATE. It’s odorless and can be applied to these areas without causing damage. Insects that land on treated surfaces or any that try to eat the material that’s been sprayed will die. Be sure to broadcast it out over a large area on the sides of the house that are being targeted. Retreat weekly till the swarms subside.
