I have a serious infestation of millipedes which started about a month ago. Zillions of them cover my front concrete walkway every morning.
I’m presently using a product called Sevin with only fair results. Would your Bifen work better and if so does it have a good shelf life?
If you read through our MILLIPEDE CONTROL ARTICLE, you’ll learn this pest comes from mulch, turf and other areas around the yard. These areas need to treated with some of the products mentioned in our article. As you’ll learn, the turf should be treated with the BIFEN GRANULES. Rain or watering your lawn will get them activated and worked down into the soil where they’ll start killing the millipedes. Keep in mind this will take several months to complete and you must treat once a month during this time to insure complete elimination.
If you have a bad infestation and need faster control right away, you still need to apply the granules. But followup with a liquid spray over the top using the BIFEN IT listed in our article. This will kill any active millipedes right now and should provide immediate relief.
Lastly, there is no comparing these products to Sevin; both are odorless and work a lot better when compared side by side. As new actives the millipedes are particularly susceptible to this chemical yet it’s safe to use around people, pets and landscaping.
