Stink bug treatment with pregnant woman

March 30, 2009 By Tech Support Leave a Comment

Dear Sir,

I have a stink bug problem and I live in central NJ.  I was hoping you could help with some questions.  I have just destroyed approximately my sixth Stink bug in about 2 months, all indoors.  The 1st one I found got the stink on me and I killed it. From then on, the others I’ve found have been carefully placed in a small paper bag and destroyed by fire. My main question is that my wife is three months pregnant and are there any known dangers or warnings that I should be concerned about due to any harmful consequences to both wife and pets. I would like to try your product and would appreciate any information you have about this.

As a general rule, the products we sell do not pose an undue hazard when applied properly to people or pets. When the label is followed and treatments allowed to settle and dry, there is little to no risk to the occupants of the home being treated. That being said, we always recommend that you first get your Doctors approval prior to treating. Sensitive situations, like sickly or elderly people living in the home as well as having very young infants or pregnant woman close by means you should always proceed with extra care and judgement. Many times seeking the advise of a medical professional is warranted and just the smart thing to do.

Based on how few stinkbugs you’ve seen and reported, I don’t think you have a terrible problem. That being said, it most certainly will get worse if you don’t nip it in the bud. Since this pest gains access to the home from the outside, it’s obvious you need to intercept them on the exterior of the home as our Stink Bug Article explains. That means a good spraying outside the home this spring and then again in the fall would be the preferred method of control for now. This means there should be no exposure to your wife or any “new arrivals” expected as well as pets. Again, check with your Doctor regarding the treatment and get his approval first. Be sure to explain we recommend at this time that you do not treat inside but instead should spray the outside only and that during this time your wife, baby and any pets that live on the property should be away from the area. This insures there is no exposure to them as explained in our product safety section. If you have further questions of if your Doctor would like to talk to us, please give us a call at 1.800.877.7290.
