How do I control a very large mud turtle infestation in my fishing pond?
Mud turtles will commonly move into any body of water that might provide adequate food. Though ominvorous, mud turtles prefer insects, frogs and fish. I’m guessing they’re harvesting all of these from your fishing pond and if left to do as they want, any significant population could have a dramatic impact.
I suggest you start employing some of our TURTLE TRAPS featured in our TURTLE CONTROL ARTICLE. One of the most effective is the DUAL TURTLE TRAP which can be used on both land and as a floating trap. Depending on the size of your pond, getting at least one in the water and one on land would be a great way to start the process.
