Hello..we have searched for anything that may help with the lingering smell of a dead squirrel in the attic. The decomposing squirrel was actually located in our chimney (finally!)….the next had fallen out of a tree above our roof.
That was months ago. We have had to restore the entire inside of our home, because our forced air furnace actually drew the stench out of the fireplace and circulated it through our home.
The stench remains in the attic. We are now getting bids for removal and replacement of the insulation in the attic crawl space. We are also venting the bathroom and kitchen fans thru the roof. (Just found out they are only vented into the attic..contributing to our problem.)
Can you PLEASE help us? Any information you can provide will be used….we have nothing else to lose. We’ve already spent what remains of our retirement income on restoration. Getting old isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.
Regards, J. and K.
If you read through our ODOR CONTROL ARTICLE, you’ll learn there are several different products that could be employed. But based on where the odor seems to be located and what it came from, I’d say the NNZ would be your best bet if you want it gone altogether. This product can be sprayed, fogged and wiped down anywhere you sense there could be odor molecules. By neutralizing the offending smell particles, odors essentially disappear from where the NNZ is applied.
The real key will be for you getting it applied where it will matter the most but based on your message, it sounds like you know. For starters I’d mist it up into the chimney flue as well as the attic. Before you start the costly charge of changing out insulation and hiring more service companies, I say give it a try with our NNZ. We’ve helped hundreds if not thousands of people with similar problems resolve them with this product so we’re confident it can help you too.
