Hello guys,
We purchased your stink bug chemicals to spray our house from you all last year and will be placing another order as soon as we hear back from you on this. They worked by the way. (Cypermethrin, Deltamethrin Dust)
We are going to purchase your Trombone Sprayer that reaches 30 feet (it seems to be the one that sprays the furthest), and want to spray our cedar trees with something to try to kill them before they come to the house. The trees are covered in these bugs. What is the safest, but most powerful thing to spray them with? I don’t want to kill any birds of course, but I swear, I think I would if it was the only way I could kill those damn bugs before they get to the house! Really, I would rather not hurt anything else – even any other bugs, but I suppose that isn’t possible. What should we purchase that is definitely going to kill off these SBs?
And – is there something we should have sprayed during baby-stinkbug season (earlier in the summer) that is different from what you will recommend here? Thank you.
The TROMBONE SPRAYER would be ideal for this application. It can reach high and is best suited for vegetation and odd shaped items requiring a lot of product to get them properly covered.
If you have any of the CYPERMETHRIN still around, that would be fine to spray on the tree. I would also suggest applying some to the outside of the home at this time as well. Alternatively, if you don’t have any left and need a new concentrate to use, go with the BIFEN. It’s better suited for plants and trees, lasts longer and is fine for peripheral activity. Acute problems should be handled with the Cypermethrin but based on your message above, I’m not sure you have any getting into the home at this time so it’s not needed. But if you have it, use it; no need to get a second product until the Cypermethrin is all used up.
Lastly, neither will affect the birds; they’ll be able to walk over treated surfaces without concern. And even if they were to eat any of the deceased insects from the treatments, there is just too little product involved to have an impact so they’ll be fine.
