Hello, I am brand new to trapping. I emailed you earlier this year for guidance on how to set traps for Prairie Dogs and your suggestions have paid big dividends. However, I made the mistake of taking my traps directly from the box to the field without treating. I just now read that dye and wax is used to condition the traps prior to setting. Now i notice that my traps are a bit rusty.
Can you also provide this newbie with info on how to salvage his traps? Do you have a product or products to recommend for this purpose. It’s looks like I will be trappoing for quite some time. There are many more animals than I imagined when I first started.
If you go to our BODY GRIP TRAPS page and scroll down toward the bottom, just above all the pricing and links to our shopping cart is our online video on how to take care of your traps. This video will pertain to body grip, coil and leghold traps and should help. If you still have questions, give Chad or Mike a call at 1.800.877.7290 and they should be able to offer further assistance.
