eliminate no see ums

I'd like to minimize or maybe even eliminate no see ums around my house. I live close to a swampy area and it may not even be possible but I figured I'd ask. Which product would you recommend for a moist, humid environment that's close to a swamp? I'm just getting tired of being attacked every time we try to do something outside….

No see ums are tough to eliminate. There are just too many places they could be breeding close by which means that once you kill the ones around the property, others in the region will be able to migrate to the empty vacated areas. That being said, there are options. Our NO SEE UM CONTROL article does a great job of listing everything you can do including spraying, fogging and even repelling them.

The big key for you will be to understand you should never expect to get long term control. If you're Ok with fogging every 7-10 days, you should be able to keep them minimized. I won't go as far to say they'll be eliminated but you should be able to obtain satisfactory results. I'd go with the PERMETHRIN and one of the FOGGING MACHINES listed in the article. The Permethrin is fast acting and will knock out adults on contact. Just be sure to get a fogger which is large enough for your property (or the amount of land you want to fog) and you'll be able to keep them under control for sure.
